Non-Brightspeed (also referred to as "third party") modems have not been tested with the Brightspeed network. Brightspeed highly recommends using one of our approved and certified modems, which have been tested and approved to work optimally with our high-speed internet technology.
Brightspeed technicians will not be able to install service using non-Brightspeed equipment. So, if a professional installation is required for new service, your technician will opt for a new recommended Brightspeed WiFi gateway to set up and optimize the connection. After the installation is complete, and you are able to successfully connect a third-party modem, you can return the Brightspeed modem.
Please note that modems from cable internet providers do not work with Brightspeed internet service.

We cannot guarantee that third-party modems will work with the Brightspeed network.
If you understand and accept these risks and would like to use a third-party modem, you will need to get support from the modem's manufacturer. Though there are some similarities across brands, it's best to get instructions specific to your particular model's features and settings. Go to the manufacturer website (for example, Netgear, Motorola, D-Link, etc.) and search for the specific model name/number to find any user guides or help articles offered by the respective manufacturers, as well as customer support contact information.
